The Encrypting File System (EFS) enables filesystem level transparent encryption on Microsoft Windows operating system. It was first introduced within NTFS. Folder encryption uses symmetric key which is then encrypted by a public key (asymmetric) pair. In our “SSH Public Key (/w RSA) Authentication and SSH Tunneling” post, we had briefly mentioned the hybrid cryptosystems that is driven by the usage of asymmetric and symmetric algorithms together. The first three parts of this article series covers what Sharepoint Server is, the requirements for Sharepoint infrastructure and what is done for the configuration. We also created Active Directory accounts for installation and configuration of Sharepoint Servers. We installed MS SQL 2008 database server and two sharepoint servers. We created the necessary databases on our database server, ran the configuration wizard for sharepoint and finished the initial configurations. In this last part of the series, I will make some additional configuration changes, will create a new Shared Services Provider and will create the first site of our Sharepoint infrastructure.

In this article series, I will explain the installation of Sharepoint Server 2007 (MOSS 2007) on Windows Server 2008 R2 operating system and Microsoft SQL Server 2008 database infrastructure. First of all, i will talk about the Sharepoint product, the topology types of Sharepoint infrastructure and differences between these topology types. After that, I will choose one of these topologies and build the infrastructure based on this topology scenario.
